This dramatization of "Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves" is particularly good. I enjoy Michael Hordern's take on Jeeves but it's Richard Brier's Bertie Wooster that is the gem of this cast. Overall, it's a great listen. However, one small note I feel obliged to add- I know abridgements require the sacrificing of certain dialogue and small plot manuevers. No cause has ever been lost while Jeeves was around, and in this uproarious novel the mastermind rises effortlessly to the occasion. Probably the best of all the Jeeves stories, and for this one I would recommend the one available here, as performed by Martin Jarvis. I don't think there is a Jonathan Cecil version available, though I might be wrong.5/5(1).

May 18,  · A Bertie and Jeeves classic, featuring an Alpine hat, a black amber statuette, and the dreaded Totleigh Towers. In Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves, Bertie's newt-breeding friend Gussie Fink-Nottle must marry Madeline Bassett or Bertie will be obliged to take Jeeves book place.

Understandably, Bertie is aghast/5(36). Bertie Wooster is back at Totleigh Towers fighting off the threat of marriage with dippy Madeline Bassett in the charmingly delightful Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves.

Good ol' school chum Gussie Fink-Nottle's engagement to Madeline is all that's saving Bertie from a future strapped to a sap. A forced vegetarian diet could tip the scales!/5. Jeeves book 18,  · "Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves" was written towards the end of the string but finds Bertie and Jeeves in top form.

Bertie goes off to dreaded Totleigh Towers to save the engagement of best buddy Gussie Fink-Nottle. Bertie has an ulterior motive: If Gussie doesn't marry the rather dim-witted Madeline Bassett, Bertie may be forced into his place/5(37).

In Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves, Bertie's newt-breeding friend Gussie Fink-Nottle must marry Madeline Bassett or Bertie will be obliged to take his place. Understandably, Bertie is aghast.

It seems like certain suicide, but Jeeves must find a way to save his employer from the clutches of the drippy simplicityhsd.comed on: November 01, In Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves, fate conspires to draw Bertie Wooster back to Totleigh Towers, the site of an earlier ordeal that nearly landed our hero in prison and, worse still, in continuing danger 4/5(14).

Included in this omnibus series are:  Carry On, Jeeves, The Inimitable Jeeves, and Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves. Stiff upper lip much needs to be said about the rather episodic stories themselves.

P.G. Wodehouse in these stories can be said to be the inverse of, say, Jane Austen, except that both are witty writers/5. Only Jeeves has a hope of sorting it all out. While Stiff Upper Lip Jeeves is an amusing read, coming on the wake of my personal favorite, Code of the Woosters, the story rides the coat tails of greatness without quite achieving that original verve and uniqueness.

Gussie, Madeline, Stiffy, and crew are still amusing and lamentably insane, yet. Jan 23,  · All the Wodehouse material in this book is enjoyable, and some of the short stories are among his best.

It is a little strange to begin the volume with the late novella "Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves" and then follow with the early short stories, including the one which first introduces Jeeves and Bertie ("Jeeves Takes Charge")/5(51). This is a compilation of three novels: How Right You Are, Jeeves, Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves, and Jeeves & The Tie That Binds.

The three are related and feature the feather-brained Bertie Wooster, all told by him in the first person/5. There are good eggs present, such as Gussie Fink-Nottle. But there also is Sir Watkyn Bassett J.P., enemy of all the Woosters, to say nothing of Roderick Spode.

One of the most in-demand Wodehouse titles, Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves is at last available as a Collector's Wodehouse edition/5.
